What do they say about being "long in the tooth"? I think it means a person is old. So, perhaps this long-toothed man is smiling because he is dying. My 103 year old grandmother died this past spring. And I suspect she died with a smile on her face.
Per your question, yes, I try to get out sailing every weekend if I can. Lately it's been twice a weekend because I'm taking a course on a racing yacht. Good times.
I like your interpretation. Someone who has lived a full life (long in tooth) and a good life can enjoy the memories, the children, the people and all those moments that meant something in their life.
Are you training for a sailing race? I would love to sail on a 30'er. I have only sailed on a type of laser craft - or a dinghy. More like a bathtub. It didn't have a proper hull so if we flipped we were fish food. Harrison lake is bloody cold and we definitely came close to flipping. Oh to sail again. Maybe I'll be in your area next year.
Cheers Ivan...if anything you eat looks like camel birth offal don't try it.
