An empty casing from an AK-47 in one of the communities where SP (Samaritan's Purse) works. This picture captures the plight of Liberians: a 14 year civil war has left a generation of children with only minimal schooling and a social fabric that has been torn. Child soldiers, with cocaine strapped to their arms, led other children (ages of less than 10) to different towns and villages with automatic weapons and RPGs. They were led by their overall commander, Charles Taylor, who acted as a father figure in their lives. Their actions were brutal. "O Liberia, this glorious land of liberty, will you once again be free?" Posted by Picasa
