Bangs, acid washed jeans and careless whispers

Today was all about that decade most of us long to forget. The 1980s were the best of times and worst of times. Who can forget the sickly bangs and the acid washed, skin tight jeans? Many of us are still trying.

Every so often though those dark times in our lives come back and make us smile. Today I found some music from the 80s that made us all sing all too loudly. It was Wham! on the itunes that was drowned out by the not-so-in-tune trio: Bev, Melissa and yours truly. We were accompanied by Augustus, my main man for livestock, who was giggling away to his own melody in the background. Melissa and I showed Vannie how most pimple faced teenagers danced to such classics as “Careless whisper.” He rolled with laughter and then proceeded to ask us if anyone had experienced the apple dance. We shook our heads and giggled as Augustus and Melissa showed us how Augustus danced in Holland back so many years ago. There are some Dutch traditions I have missed out on.

In all honesty, I am glad the 80s are gone. I hope they don’t make a full come back and we can let the ozone heal itself from all the CCFs that we pumped into those mighty bangs (not me personally, just in case you’re wondering.)

Other songs played today:

Foreigner: cold as ice, waiting for a girl like you
Fleetwood mac: little lies
Hall and Oates: Private eyes
